Last night was Holiday Family Fun Night, which might or might not be the actual name but I'm running with it, at the base gym. My friend, Denise, had a business meeting at the church and needed me to keep her boys since her husband is out of town. What better way to keep three kids entertained and my house from being destroyed than take them all to a night of fun at the gym?
When she dropped them off I had popcorn chicken, french fries and juice boxes ready. We ate and off we went. I've been to plenty of base events, but this was packed! It was difficult to move around when we first arrived, but there were four different "bouncy" type things set up in one area. Then there was the man in his tent making balloon animals which are incredible, a face painting booth with excellent artists, a section marked off for creating crafts, bleachers set up for a local college choir singing Christmas songs, Santa was there, and of course concessions.
The kids had a blast and I ran into quite a few friends with their kids and met new people. Clara Grace wanted her face painted like Rudolph but changed her mind to a tiger. We'll never know which one she would have chosen as after waiting for a LONG time and getting nearly to the front it was getting late and I suggested we skip the face painting and run over to the cookie decorating booth. She loved the idea and smothered her cookie with green icing, M&Ms and sprinkles.
We stopped at the coat room and bundled up and as we walked out the side entrance (my friend Denise had joined me by this point) they were loading up for the last hay ride. We scrambled on board and off we went. I'm sooo glad we decided to do this. They had decorated individual scenes from the North Pole and we stopped at each scene. The first one they handed out hot chocolate, at Santa's Candy Shop it was candy, and at others the "elves" were singing, waving, etc. It was a really nice way to end the evening.

Clara Grace took off in front of Scott and Ian, but they made up for lost time quickly.
Scott and Clara Grace on the go!
