A few pics...
Last weekend, Clara Grace had a big Girl Scout bash where rising Daisies and Brownies "bridged" to their new group. Clara Grace is a first year Daisy so she didn't bridge. They did have the grill fired up, lots of snacks and a bounce house plus it was at the pavillion next to a playground, next to the pool which is now open. It was also VERY hot. You can see Clara Grace near the back of the line. And yes, I was ironing and sewing quite a few patches right before we came here...nothing like procrastinating. 
The bridge
Here, Zach is attempting one of many escapes into the playground. He is EVERYWHERE! He is quite a climber.
Here is the evidence of his climbing skills. I ordered this for his birthday and it arrived last weekend. He LOVES it, but doesn't climb the ladder, only the slide. It folds up when they are done which is the reason it had to be this particular climber.
No fear!?!
Clara Grace often tries to assist. Sometimes he goes for it, other times he finds it annoying.
Clara Grace enjoys it too. Living in a mid-rise, this makes it nice so the kids can burn some energy on rainy days.
On to the other item that arrived this week. The bicycle trailer I liked was very difficult to obtain as most places wouldn't ship it to an fpo address. I will give it to biketrailer.com out of Arizona...they made it happen. However, the item was on backorder, then add the 30-40 day delay of parcel post and it took quite a while. Finally, it arrived on Monday. Charlie spent the day assembling, and then working on my bike that hadn't been in storage since leaving Rhode Island. That afternoon we went for a family ride which was miserable between Zach screaming and Clara Grace whining that he was touching her. Good times. No pictures of that trip, but we did get ready for a ride around the whole base yesterday (Saturday) after Zach's nap and having him eat. It went much better! Clara Grace is getting a bigger bike for her birthday, so hopefully she'll not be in this for long until she can keep up with us her own bike. Our trip around the base only puts us on a main road for about 50 feet before we branch off on a less traveled road and then get on the sea wall which is designed for walkers/joggers/cyclists. The speed limit of the base is very low too, plus it is heavily traveled by cyclists. Anyway, I'm hoping to use this a LOT this summer and perhaps even using it to go to work some.

A trip to the Kintai Bridge
We have been planning to make it to this historic landmark for months, but weather and plans along with a little laziness have kept us away. Finally, we decided to go and do the hike with another family. We had a BLAST! I'm including a link to information about the bridge if you are curious: Kintai Bridge We parked at the base, and took a rather steep path up the mountain to see the castle, along with a couple of small playgrounds. After walking down we enjoyed the sights and sounds, along with some yummy ice cream. The Smogers made fun of us because we stuck to traditional flavors like chocolate and vanilla...perhaps we'll branch out next time.

Just a little funny to share...
The other day, Clara Grace and Charlie were watching a cartoon together. She mentioned the characters were flies and Charlie said they didn't look like flies. As their conversation progressed, he began pointing out how they had many human characteristics. In her mature, how-worldy-am-I tone turns to him and said, "Dad. It is called personification."
I thought it was priceless and we had a good chuckle over it. Except Clara Grace. The humor escaped her on this one. I did make a point to let her teacher know since I credit her with the knowledge passed on to the little one.
