The Latest Scoop

The Hollowell family is potentially going to embark on a new adventure in late spring of 2012. In July, Charlie was screened to go to school to become a detachment commander on embassy duty. We have been waiting on pins and needles for news to come because the wait time is typically one month. As it turns out, it took three for us. Today we received news that Charlie's package was accepted and he has a school date for early March.

The school lasts for seven or eight weeks so he should be done by the end of April. If he graduates the school (and I emphasize the "if" because it is a tough school and one of the few that you can fail without it hurting your career) then we should know around mid to late April which embassy Charlie will be serving. It is pure speculation, but we imagine we would be moving sometime in May.

You might have a few questions about the duty. As a detachment commander, we would serve two different embassies with 18 months spent at each one. There are so many exciting places we could go.

We are pretty stoked about it. Luckily, with that school date it allows me to finish the school year or come pretty close. I'll conclude with an entertaining video for you to check out.
