Super Zach
Mom (Mimi) made Zach a cape! It says "Super Zach" and Zach thinks it is fantastic. He wants to fly and wear it all the time. I wish you could tell that he has his hands on his hips right now. I've included a youtube clip of the Superman theme so you can imagine it playing as you see Super Zach. As a disclaimer, the cape is pinned to his shoulders rather than wrapped around his neck.
Zach's 3rd Birthday Party
Zach's 3rd birthday party went fairly well. I decided to keep things relatively simple so there were no games. There are very few Superman party supplies out there so I really had no choice. I did find this Superman cake online and emailed it to our Club Iwakuni asking if they could do this for me.I think they did a fantastic job! It looked even better in person and tasted great. It was a double layer with filling in the middle. Yum! I couldn't even complain that they spelled Zach wrong, since I completely messed up a friend's name tape order just this week. Zach had no idea and loved the cake. I'm thinking of "nicing" the Club over this awesome cake.
I'm pretty impressed with my monkeys.
This is Abigail. She and Zach play so well together.
It was really more like a super heroes party. Did you catch the Flash? And Spiderman above? I just love the sheer joy on their faces. Zach getting ready to blow out the candles...
Done!
Hmm, there were lots of blue mouths after digging in.
There is one in every crowd.
Clara stepped up to the plate to read the cards.
Zach got several really cool gifts!
Here is Sophia. She is so sweet and just turned three too.
We missed our family, especially Charlie, but as you can see we were blessed to have several friends share Zach's day. We had a nice time, and everyone pulled together to help me have everything cleaned up in no time. After everything was cleaned up and I was waiting on the lady to pick up the key for their party tomorrow, Zach came up to say, "Where did my birthday party go?" He was very puzzled.

Happy 3rd Birthday Zach!
It is so hard to believe that Zach is already three years old. We will have his party this Saturday. In order to make today a little special, we left the apartment early and went to the coffee shop. Zach picked out a glazed cinnamon roll with sprinkles.
He was not the happiest camper this morning, but he did enjoy the cinnamon roll. When I picked him up from daycare, they had made a birthday banner for him that was very cute.
After work, we picked up Burger King and went to the playground for a while. Luckily a friend and her girls met us there too and the kids had a nice evening. Zach was not happy when it was time to go home.
Happy Birthday, Zach!

It's a bird, it's a plane....it's Super Zach!
I promised Mimi I would snap a picture of Zach in his new jammies she made him. He is such a creature of habit. I admit that tonight I was willing to skip the bath, but not Zach! Here he is completing our routine. His favorite part is rinsing with ACT. Just in case you were wondering, he is standing on a stool.
He definitely has room to grow in the pajamas, but they work. Good job, Mimi!
We couldn't leave Clara out of the picture taking. Isn't she a sweetheart? Wow, they look SO much alike in this picture.
2012 in Review
As you can tell, I've neglected the blog a bit this year. You'll notice that I've not been snapping too many pictures either. Hopefully I do not fall so far behind again. I'll try to recap the last couple of months.
The first item to share is that we have entered the wonderful world of heroes. Zach's current focus is on Superman. I wash these pajamas all. the. time. Getting him out of them is very difficult. Right now they are getting a bit snug to pull over his shoulders, but he LOVES them. Mimi made an adorable pajama set out of Superman fabric that Zach gave his seal of approval with, "These are COOL!" I'll snap a pic of him in them soon.
Here he is posing as though he is about to fly. I'll let you guess what the theme of his upcoming birthday party is going to be.
Clara was recognized for Student of the Month in her class for the month of December. This was taken the day of her luncheon. I believe the character traits for the month were "respect and manners". How nice! Clara had rejoined her class at this point. There is a picture of her below going to her seat on the stage.

Clara's sense of fashion is VERY different from my own.
Here Clara is on stage being recognized during the 1st semester awards assembly.
This was the Special Persons Dance for Girl Scouts. I hate to state the obvious, but the theme was red and white.

The Z-Man
This has been a busy couple of months. I completely forgot to snap pictures during Read Across America week. Clara was Dorothy and I was the Wicked Witch of the West for the storybook parade. That week was absolutely crazy with each day a different dress up theme, we had a team coming in to evaluate us for the upcoming accreditation year, and I think that was the same week Charlie left for Quantico.
Before Charlie left we were getting medical clearance appointments, Zach finally had his first dentist visit (which went well), getting new passport photos made, and I am sure I will think of more later. Right now I am trying to purge some items and get ready for our upcoming move. Zach will be starting t-ball next month too. Logistics is always a juggling act.
