Edinburgh Day 1

I'll be the first to tell you that I am such a slacker at times.  In my defense, I've attempted this repeatedly but was trying to upload them to an online album.  Plan B is in effect now.  Anyway, when we took our family vacation last year I forgot to pack the camera's charger.  Because of this, we were only able to take pictures of our very first day of our ten day trip using the camera.  The rest of the pictures we shared were taken using Clara's iTouch.

So, brace yourself for all the pictures we took on the first day!

First, you will see the lovely accommodations at our bed & breakfast.  It was quaint, but not overly comfy.  It definitely had character.  Each morning we enjoyed a hot buffet breakfast in the dining room and played "What temperature will the shower be this second?"  However, I wouldn't change it for the world.  We were treated very kindly and were within walking distance of the Royal Mile!

These are the pictures we took along the way as we made our way to the Royal Mile.

Do you see the castle in the distance?

After walking to the right and up the hill, we found ourselves at the Royal Mile!  This is what you see facing away from the castle, looking down the street.

And then this is the view walking into the castle.  They were in the process of removing the bleachers for a prior event.  Edinburgh Castle was the first castle I had ever been in!  And what a treat it is!  We spent the majority of our day checking it out, and could have spent much longer but you know...we were traveling with a three-year-old.

This is where they kept American POWs from the Revolutionary War!

The following pictures were taken by Charlie when he took the tour at the Scotch Whiskey Experience.  He was quite impressed!  While he was in here, the kids and I scoped out some places on the Royal Mile, had a snack, and just let them have a few minutes of down time.

This guy was awesome!  We took video too, but he would give the kids high fives after they dropped some coins in the bucket.  It was quite a bit of fun.

If you see the sign in the upper left corner, that is where we ate dinner that night.  It was tasty, but we offended a couple (in our defense, I think they were offended we were Americans, not by anything we did) but we still enjoyed our food.

We also have video of him playing the bagpipes.  He was amazing and people were just rotating standing next to him.  It was sort of like watching people rush in to jump rope they way they darted in and out to get pictures.  The video shows it well.

Here we are inside the restaurant.  The bottom floor was more like a bar and then you walked upstairs to the restaurant.

So that was pretty much day one of our trip!
